Our craft

From fallen shell to keepsake

Every piece begins as a shell that would have been burned or buried. This is the journey it takes instead — slow, honest, and entirely by hand.

Collected coconut shells

Step one

Rescued from waste

After the kernel is used for cooking and oil, the shells are gathered from village kitchens and presses. Nothing is wasted — that is the old way, and the right way.

Cleaning and cutting shells

Step two

Cleaned, dried & cut

Each shell is scrubbed, sun-dried for days, and cut into blanks. Only the densest, most even pieces move on — the rest return to the earth.

Hand-carving a pendant

Step three

Carved by hand

With small blades and steady patience, the maker follows the grain. The shell decides much of the final shape — no two pieces are ever alike.

Polishing with coconut oil

Step four

Sanded & polished, naturally

Through finer and finer grits until the surface glows, then finished with pure coconut oil. No lacquer, no chemicals — just the shell's own deep shine.

Finished piece being strung

Step five

Strung, signed off & sent

Cords are tied, hooks fitted, and the maker gives the final nod before the piece leaves the village — carrying its story to you.
